Powerful yet Power-less Principal
After spending more than a decade in school set up, I have understood that Principals /School Leaders are being hired by management for overall school development so as to make their school one of the best choices for the parents in the vicinity.
- School Owners : Objective for them is to maximize revenue. Majority of them are” Business Oriented”
- Principals: Objective for them is overall development of school “Development Oriented”
- How one can think of good results when objective of management & Principal is different?
Management makes a strategy keeping in mind their business expectations. It fails at implementation level in schools, as that’s not Principal’s forte.

Powerful yet power-Less Principal, You hire a Principal not a superman who can perform everything (sab kuch wala). Management defines a strategy for school & Principals push it back to the management. Principals feels handcuffed and start looking out for another school or ends up working in same frustrated environment blaming their destiny & bad times. Its high time to hire a Principal for doing Principal’s job & hire a CEO to do profitable business -so to reap the benefits of both objectives.
